Launch of major report into Irish home care market

Conducted by PA Consulting on behalf of the Irish Private Homecare Association (IPHCA), of which CAREMARK is a member, the report outlines the key characteristics of the Irish home care market including:

  • Current and future demand for home care
  • The role of the consumer (public and private)
  • The range, type and cost of providers (including subsidisation and grant aid)
  • Barriers to entry (including policy and regulation)
  • Competition and choice
  • Implications for future direction and priorities for the Irish home care market

Commenting on the publication of the report, Tom Duke, Managing Director of CAREMARK (Ireland) said: "CAREMARK is fully committed to the strict regulation of the Irish home care market. We have requested regulation and auditing of the private home care sector from HIQA through the IPHCA. In the absence of regulation of the Irish market, we work to and exceed the requirements as laid down in the UK National Minimum Standards. We believe we have a role to play in harmony with the HSE in delivering an extremely high quality service in a very cost effective manner."
